Northern Sierra Introduction

Northern Sierra Introduction

Grand booming waterfalls, carved granite potholes and steeply dropping canyons dominate the spectacular Northern Sierra. Valley floors fall away dramatically from high, conifer bespeckled ridges as the rivers and streams pound away at the granite canyon walls. The watersheds here are massive.

The forks of the Feather River are home to several canyoneering routes that are destined to become classics. This stretch of the Sierra has both tight plummeting routes and sweeping, epic routes connected by paved and dirt roads that weave in and out, up and over ridgelines separating the forks of the river. The Northern Sierra is a magical canyoneering playground that is also home to bears, otters and many other critters that have been wise to the place for eons.
